Thimpu - Punakha - Phobjikha (Gangtey Gompa ) - Paro

Upon your arrival at nearby Railway Station / Airport you will be greeted by our representative and will be transferred to Thimphu (7,710 ft.) the capital city of Bhutan. On arrival check in at the hotel. Relax for sometime. Later start for half day Thimphu sightseeing which includes Kuensel Phodrang (Buddha Statue) a place for refreshing with a huge statue of Buddha on the top of the Kuensel Phodrang. Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion) - The Dzong is the seat of the national government and the Central Monastic Body, including the summer residence of the Je Khenpo (Chief Abbot of Bhutan) at present and Folk Heritage Museum. Overnight stay at Thimphu.

Post Breakfast, go for morning sightseeing. Visit the Indigenous hospital (where traditional old art of healing is still practiced), Art & craft School, National Library, Royal Goldsmith Workshop and Handicraft Centres. Have a sumptuous lunch. In the afternoon visit the Memorial Chorten built in the memory of the late king Jigme Dorji Wang chuck. This Chorten was built in 1974 in a typical Tibetan style. It is also a center of worship for the people living in Thimphu. Evening free for Shopping and leisure. Overnight Stay at Thimpu.

Have a delicious breakfast and proceed toward Punakha. Enroute, halt at Dochu La - A mountain pass leading further into the Punakha Valley. It offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass. Upon your arrival at Punakha check into the hotel. Later visit Punakha Dzong - built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. For many years until the time of the second king, it served as the seat of the Government. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). After that take a short excursion trip to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang - The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. Overnight stay in Punakha.

After Breakfast, transfer to Phobjika Valley It is a vast U-shaped glacial valley and for Black- necked Cranes. This valley is the winter home of Black Necked Cranes BIRD that migrates from Tibet. This valley is one of the most beautiful and scenic ones in Bhutan. On the slope overlooking the valley is the Gangtey monastery built in 17th century and is one of the oldest and biggest monasteries of the Nyingma Red Hat Sect school of Buddhism. Evening back to Punakha & Night Stay in Punakha.

After breakfast drive to Paro. On the way stop at Lamperi to visit Royal Botanical Park - The park contains a rich biodiversity of flora and fauna and features a huge species of plants and animals including endangered species. On arrival check in at the hotel. Visit the historic ruins of the Drukgyal Dzong, built in 1647, a ruined fortress where Bhutaness warriors fought Tibetan invaders centuries ago and now government is renovating it. Later visit Paro market. Paro’s main street features shops on both sides, all crammed with brasswares, silk and cotton scarves, incense sticks, silver filigree jewellery etc. Evening at your own leisure. Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast excursion to Taktshang Momastery (approx 5 hours round the trip walk). It is one of the most famous of Bhutan’s monasteries, perched on the side of a cliff of 900m above the Paro valley floor. It is said that Guru Rinpoche arrived here on the back of a tigress and meditated at this monastery and hence it is call Tiger Nest. Also visit Kichulanka Monastery, Ta Dzong, Paro Rinpung Dzong (Museum), Nya-mey Zam, Dungtse Lhankhang, Kila Gompa, Druk Choeding. Grab a good breakfast, spend some time at leisure and enjoy some last minute shopping depending on your flight schedule. Check-out from the hotel and get transferred to the Paro Airport / Hasimara Railway Station to board your return journey.
