Overview

The union territory is part of the broader disputed Kashmir region and is sandwiched between the Karakoram mountain range to the north and the Himalayas to the south and is situated at the height of 11,400 ft.

Ladakh is composed of the Leh and Kargil districts. The region contains prominent Buddhist sites and has an ecotourism industry. As of 2020, tourism industry in Ladakh was worth ₹600 crore (US$84 million).

There are about 35 Buddhist monasteries along the banks of various rivers spread across the region which thrives on donations made by tourists and the local people of the region but now the government plans to develop these monasteries.

What is the best time to travel to Ladakh?
June to September is considered the best time to visit Ladakh. During these months, Ladakh has pleasant weather and temperature ranging between 20℃ and 35℃. Trekkers, who like to do the Frozen River Trek and Snow Leopard Trek like to visit in the winter season in Ladakh.
Is it safe to visit Ladakh?
Yes, it is absolutely safe to visit Ladakh, however, if you are physically unwell, you should consult your doctor before planning a trip. It is also recommended to give full one day for acclimatisation when you reach Ladakh by Flight.
Is it recommendable to bring children to the trip?
Yes, no issue provided that there are physically fit and can endure weather conditions. Sometime children are not able to voice out the symptom of high altitude sickness and this create problem.
